The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has secured funds from the Government of Ghana to begin completion of the first phase of the KNUST Teaching Hospital.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson, the project which started over a decade ago, had stalled due to lack of funds. As a result, Management appealed to the government for assistance in completion of the 800-bed capacity hospital.

Professor Dickson recalled that during her investiture last year, the President, Nana Akufo-Addo, pledged his government’s commitment to completing the project.
Acknowledging the efforts of the President, she announced that funds had been secured from the government to complete the first phase of the project for use. ‘‘The project covers a land area of about 71 acres. The first phase of the project, will make the OPD and administration block available.” Professor Dickson revealed.
She, therefore, expressed hope in the full completion of the Hospital.
The KNUST Teaching Hospital project, valued at about $125 million, is being executed by the College of Architecture and Planning of the University, in collaboration with the Ghana Education Trust Fund. The Hospital when completed, is expected to become a leader in medical and healthcare training in the country.
